Oggi abbiamo il piacere di proporvi l’intervista realizzata ad iHaz3, uno tra i più promettenti sviluppatori di temi per iPhone e iPad che possono essere acquistati tramite il Cydia Store. Ciao a tutti e grazie per il benvenuto. Il mio vero nome è Daniel, meglio conosciuto come iHaz3, un nickname che è stato scelto da mia moglie e che ha un significato particolare in Olanda.
Sappiamo che sei un theme-maker per iPhone e iPad. Com’è nata questa passione?
Beh, il mio lavoro principale è quello di realizzare applicazioni per iDevices, ma anche le mie abilità grafiche non sono male, quindi vedendo alcuni temi carini ho pensato di poterne realizzare uno anche io. Ho iniziato quindi a lavorare a “BlackHaz3-HD” e da quel momento in poi mi piace davvero tanto realizzare sempre nuovi temi.
Quindi sei anche uno sviluppatore di applicazioni. Ne hai pubblicata qualcuna in App Store?
Si, alcune, ma non posso dirti quali per non svelare la mia identità ad Apple.
Ci hai parlato di BlackHaz3: quali sono stati gli altri progetti pubblicati in Cydia? Ce ne puoi parlare?
Dopo BlackHaz3-HD ho iniziato a lavorare su SilverHaz3-HD e MystiQueHaz3-HD che possono essere entrambi trovati in Cydia Store. Presto rilascerò anche alcuni tweak, ma non nell’immediato. Attualmente sto disegnando un nuovo tema, IllumineHaz3-HD, compatibile con tutti i dispositivi. Presto ci sarà anche un tema speciale per iPad 2 bianco denominato ArticHaz3-HD.
Quali sono quindi le sostanziali differenze tra questi temi? Dove trovi l’ispirazione per realizzarne di nuovi?
Beh, dopo aver sviluppato il primo tema, conosci meglio il funzionamento di iOS. SilverHaz3-HD e un tema della collezione Haz3-HD quindi è normale che abbiano qualcosa in comune, ecco perchè si intitolano tutti “Haz3”.
L’ispriazione viene principalmente da Photoshop e dalla mia testa. Non uso disegni o note, inizio solo a pensare ad un nuovo tema immaginando le nuove icone e quindi un’interfaccia grafica per farle apparire carine assieme. Avviene tutto unicamente nella mia testa. Credo che la mia famiglia sia una delle principali fonti della mia ispirazione.
Domanda difficile: secondo lo sviluppatore, quale è il miglior tema della collezione iHaz3?
(Risata) Per me non è una domanda difficile, BlackHaz3-HD è stato sempre il mio preferito. Perchè? Perchè amo lo stile dark, perchè è il tema più completo (con più di 160 icone), perchè supporta la definizione retina e standard, e perchè è compatibile con tutti i dispositivi, come gli altri miei temi.
Secondo te, che vivi dall’interno questa realtà, sviluppare temi per iOS è semplicemente un hobby o può diventare anche un vero e proprio lavoro o secondo lavoro grazie alle opportunità offerte dal Cydia Store?
Beh, è iniziato come un hobby, ma la gente ha gradito i miei temi così tanto che ho deciso di continuare a realizzarne. Ora è come se avessi due lavori: lavoro cinque giorni alla settimana per la mia azienda e per quattro di questi sono a casa davanti al mio iMac. Mi risulta quindi facile combinare bene le due cose. L’unico problema è che qualche volta avrei voglia di dormire un po’ di più.
Ok, ora l’ultima domanda. Abbiamo parlato delle tue applicazioni, seppur in parte, dei tuoi temi, e dei progetti che hai per il futuro (hai accennato ad alcuni tweak): puoi condividere con i nostri utenti quelli che saranno i tuoi prossimi obiettivi?
Certo, nello specifico vorrei sviluppare un tweak dedicato a tutti gli sviluppatori di temi professionali, una sorta di protezione collegata all’UDID del dispositivo che renderebbe davvero difficile le procedure di cracking dei temi in questione. Questa è l’idea di base ma, come ho detto prima, ne saprete di più nel prossimo futuro.
Parlare di questo nuovo progetto è uno dei principali motivi per cui sono qui: non avrei potuto riferirlo a così tante persone, e magari colleghi, tramite Twitter.

Hi and thanks for the welcome on iPhoneItalia. My real name is Daniel aka iHaz3 (my wife came up with that name).
We know you are a themer for iPhone and iPad. How this passion born?
Well my normal job is to make Applications for iDevices, and my Grapical Design/Front-end Skills are good as well, so i saw the nice themes out there and started one called “BlackHaz3-HD” and from that moment on i really like to make themes.
So you are an iOS developer too, did you published some apps in the App Store?
Yes, I have Apps in the Store but i cant tell you wich ones, to protect my identity at Apple Inc.
You told us about BlackHaz3-HD, what are the other projects you published on Cydia Store? Can you tell us something about it?
After BlackHaz3-HD i started to work on SilverHaz3-HD and MystiQueHaz3-HD and all can be found in Cydia. Soon some tweaks will appear as well, but that is for another time Currently busy Developing IllumineHaz3-HD for all devices. Soon there will be a Special Edition for the White iPad called “ArticHaz3-HD”.
Great! What are the main differences between this themes? Where do you find the inspiration?
Well after you have build your first theme, you pretty know your way arround in the iOS. SilverHaz3-HD is one one of the Haz3-HD collection so they will all have something in common, i call it the “Haz3”.
The Inspiration comes as i am behind Photoshop, i see it in my head how i want it, i dont use any sketches or notes, i just start making the icons as it comes out. Based on the icons i visionize how the UI will fit the Icons on a nice way, its all in my head.
Think my Family is my main reason i have so much Inspiration.
So according to the developer – this is a difficult question – what is the best Haz3-collection theme?
Hah! Well for me it is not a hard question, BlackHaz3-HD has always been my Favorite (reason is i like Dark). It is the most complete aswell, with over 160 icons, and it’s compatible with all iDevices. Retina and SD ready.
According to you, and with the opportunities given from the Cydia Store, your hobby it’s just an hobby or can be saw as a real job or second-job?
Well, at first it started out as a hobby, but people loved my work so much i decided to go on with theming, and so its basicly i have 2 jobs now, i work 5 days in a week for my company were 4 days at home from my iMac. So i combine those 2 things very good. Only thing is that i need some sleep to keep this up haha
We talked about your apps (in part), about your themes, and you told us something about your next projects (such as tweaks). Can you share with our users some exclusive informations about your next objectives?
Yeah, basicly i want to develop a tweak for all serious themers out there, so its going to be very hard to Pirate themes because they will be protected with a UDID protection. The Basics i have planned out, but like i said before, more about that in the near future
Thats why i am here to help people out… can’t say that from many devs on Twitter.
